Zhenghua YEC fund-raising project at River HongBao 2010

RIVER HONGBAO 2010 – Valentine’s Day Community Service               Background Information   Date                             :           13 Feb 2010 (Saturday) – 14 Feb 2010 (Sunday) Location                       :           Marina Bay Floating Platform, Singapore Time                             :           7.00pm – 11.30pm   Overview                     :           A Into the 24th year, River Hongbao has become one of the signature events during the Lunar New Year season in Singapore. It offers a myriad of activities that includes nightly cultural performances, acrobatic performances, variety shows, traditional handicrafts, food streets, fireworks & fire crackers, lantern displays and community related group activities, etc. The first day of the Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day fall on the same day, 14 February 2010. Both special occasions are spent with loved ones, family members and friends. To celebrate this auspicious coincidence, Zhenghua Youth Executive Committee,  in conjunction with River HongBao 2010, will sell roses at the River HongBao 2010 compound at a discounted rate to raise funds for future community events. Objectives                    : To raise funds for Zhenghua Youth Club, which will be utilized for future events aimed at promoting social cohesiveness, national consciousness and patriotism among youths. To encourage youths to embark on volunteering even during festive seasons.  Target Group              : The targeted number of participants for the River HongBao 2010 (12 Feb 2010 – 20 Feb 2010) is 300,000 visitors. The targeted group for the sale of roses will be couples of all ages and the expected sales of roses are 500 each day. Programme                   : Time Item In – Charge 12:00pm Delivery of roses Vendor 1:00pm Wrapping of roses Volunteers 5:00pm Set off from Zhenghua CC - 6.00pm Dinner - 7:00pm Sales starts Volunteers 11.30pm End of Event -   B         Students’ Involvement Student volunteers will be involved in the planning of logistics, publicity, and the sale of roses. Zhenghua YEC will be providing the funds.
