The Emperor’s New Clothes calling for Volunteers

  W!LD RICE is back for its annual Pantomime!!  This year, we proudly presents The Emperor’s New Clothesopening from 20 Nov – 12 Dec 2015 at the Drama Centre.   This holiday season, W!LD RICE puts a hilarious Singaporean spin on Hans Christian Andersen’s timeless tale about the ultimate fashion victim. Directed by Pam Oei, The Emperor’s New Clothes is a brand new musical with a razor-sharp script by Joel Tan and a sparkling score by Julian Wong. Its stellar cast includes Lim Kay Siu as the Emperor, as well as Benjamin Kheng of The Sam Willows, Singapore Idol’s Sezairi Sazali and Siti Khalijah Zainal – all playing musical instruments live on stage!                                       We are inviting FUN and FRIENDLY volunteers to help us with Front-of-House duties from 20 Nov – 12 Dec 2015. FOH duties include: - Welcoming guests at the theatre foyer - Selling programmes and merchandise - Be a Friend of WILD RICE registration - Assist in FOH administration   We will extend: - TWO (02) complimentary tickets to volunteers who completed SIX (06) shows; OR - ONE (01) complimentary ticket to volunteers who completed FOUR (04) shows   You may only redeem your tickets after completion of the set of roster.  Community Involvement Programme (CIP) hours would also be given upon request.   Time schedule for reporting of FOH duties: For evening performances: Tues to Sat, 6:00pm – 10.30pm For matinee performances: Thurs, Sat & Sun, 1:00pm – 5.30pm   There are no shows on Mondays and evening shows on Sundays.   Dress Code: SMART CASUAL.  Please refrain from slippers, shorts or school uniform.   Interested volunteers, please email foh@wildrice.com.sg with your available dates and contact number.

Singapore Tech Challenge (STC) 2017 is here for you!

What is STC?

The Singapore Tech Challenge (STC) started out as the World Robo Tournament (WRT) in 2008 as a fun, carnival-like robotics competition for primary and secondary school students. Today, STC is into its 3rd installation and is now bigger and better than ever! The competition typically features events with the aim of unleashing participants’ creativity and giving them a platform to compete while having fun. At the same time, STC provides an opportunity for youths to hone their organisational skills by taking up leadership roles in planning and hosting the competition!

Date: 19 & 20 June 2017

 

Time (tentative): 1300-1800 on 19 June; 0800-2000 on 20 June

 

Venue: Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)

 

*with compulsory briefing on 27 May and 10 June.

 

 Volunteer roles include:

 

- Referees

- Robot inspectors 

 

- Team coordinators and scorekeeper for different competition segments

 

- Emcees for stage programmes

 

- General logistics and programme helpers

 

- Medics and photographers
